Empowering you to build healthy relationships
Are you ready to build healthier, meaningful, secure relationships in your life?
Relationship Therapy is a specialized form of individual therapy, where we focus on relationships. This can range from intimate partners, to family and friends, and especially the relationship with yourself.
You ignore your wants and needs in order to make everyone else happy, but it leaves you feeling unsatisfied, unfulfilled, and burnt out. Worst of all, you fear what would happen if you were to be honest and share what is going on for you…You fear that people will leave. Although often done to avoid conflict in the short-term, "people pleasing" can lead to resentment and greater conflict in relationships in the long-term and depletes your energy sources.
Maybe you see your family dynamics as complex and overwhelming and you don't know where to begin. You look back on your family and see these same dynamics being passed down generation after generation. You want to have healthy, boundaried, relationships, but you don’t know how. You weren't taught that in childhood. Instead, you were taught that boundaries=rejection, saying yes to others brings you love, and putting other people first brings you the praise that every human yearns for. You want to break the cycle, but it’s hard, and you don’t know where to start.
Whether you are looking to improve platonic friendships, family of origin relationships, or relationships with romantic partners,
I am here to help.
The ways you learned to survive in childhood, are the "symptoms" you experience in adulthood.
In Relationship Therapy for Individuals, you will explore these parts of you, such as the people pleaser or black and white thinker. While honoring and validating the role they once served, you will grow awareness for times they may actually be causing more harm than good. Through reflecting and exploring on your family of origin dynamics, we will notice patterns that have inadvertently been recreated in adulthood. And rather than taking on roles out of pattern, you will learn to embrace these parts of you in a way that honors them with boundaries and limits, so that you are honored as well. You will learn to intentionally show up in relationships in a way that is in line with your values and your needs.
Relationships start from within. By reconnecting with yourself you will learn to relate with loved ones in a way that honors you. Overall, creating more meaningful and fulfilling relationships. By growing into you, you will become the sibling, parent, friend, and partner you have been wanting to be.
Relationships from when you were younger, impact the relationships you form as an adult.
Together, we will explore the relationships you had growing up whether it be with your parents, siblings, peers, or other caregivers. We will look at what roles you were put into or took on as a kid and how these dynamics may be unintentionally recreated in adult relationships. I want to honor these roles and characteristics, since often they are often a key part of your identity. Together, we will learn how to intentionally show up in relationships that honors your values and your needs.
Through looking back on relationship patterns, we will then look forward in order to make lasting change. You will learn to set boundaries…and even more difficult learn how to maintain boundaries when there is pushback. You will learn to put yourself first, reconnect with what brings you joy, and grow your sense of self.
